Oct 29th, Chilly in the Morning an Views in the Afternoon

Oh boy was it cold this morning. I have a summer sleeping bag on this trip (I was expecting warm weather) and it was 39 F at 7 AM. I slept with multiple sets of clothes so it was OK though. I'm waiting for the warm weather to appear.  It did reach 72 F later in the afternoon. The ride headed directly south to Cape Paterson and followed the water for a while around to bay to Venus Bay before heading inland.

From the photos you will be able to see that we spent a great deal of time on hard packed bike trails. All very nice if the weather is dry and sunny. We haven't discovered yet what wet conditions on the bike path are like.

Shortly before lunch (81 km) we started to encounter headwinds coming from the East. As you can see below, from Foster to almost all the way to Yarram, our destination, we biked almost directly into the wind. As the road made slight turns to the north or south the winds would become more bearable.

I arrived at the campgrounds at about 3:30 PM. Enough time to put up the tent, take a shower and type the blog for the day. At 7 PM we'll have the ride briefing for tomorrow followed by dinner.  Maybe we'll have time to trade stories before heading off to sleep.

Tomorrow will be our last day of riding before spending a single rest day in Bairnsdale.

Happy Biking,
